Digital transformation and reducing cost of delivery.
As a technology consultancy, we worked with the BBC to implement a digital transformation initiative with the goal of reducing the cost of delivery for the organization, particularly for its Children's Android and iOS apps. To achieve this, we leveraged the power of progressive web app (PWA) technology.
We began by conducting a comprehensive assessment of the BBC's technology infrastructure and workflow, focusing on areas such as content management, distribution, and asset management. Based on this assessment, we developed a roadmap for implementing a range of technical solutions, including cloud-based platforms, automation tools, and data analytics frameworks.
One key aspect of the project was the redesign of the Children's Android and iOS apps using PWA technology, which allowed for the creation of a single codebase that could be used across all platforms. This not only reduced the cost of maintaining separate codebases for each platform, but it also made it easier for the BBC to roll out updates and new features to all users simultaneously.
Throughout the project, we worked closely with BBC teams to ensure that the new systems were properly integrated and that all stakeholders were trained on how to use them effectively. We also provided ongoing support and maintenance to ensure the smooth operation of the new systems.
Overall, our efforts helped the BBC to significantly reduce the cost of delivering content to its audiences, while also improving the organization's agility and ability to adapt to changing market conditions. The use of PWA technology in particular played a crucial role in cutting the cost of Children's Android and iOS apps, while also improving their functionality and user experience.
